Nicola Schintu
Nicola started playing when he was eighteen as a self-thought guitarist and only one year later, he was already playing in a rock band as lead guitarist and recording his first demo. After several experiences in many bands, including an 11-piece big band, he decided to pursue a solo career and to record his first EP. Shortly after he started participating and winning several guitar and music contests.
Unfortunately in 2004 he partially lost of the mobility of his left ring finger as result of an accident. After he had a surgery he decided to readapt his guitar technique and started a steady use of his own version of the two hands tapping.
He studied with some of the best guitar players in the world through clinics and private lessons, some of those are:
Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan,Paul Gilbert, Carl Verheyen, Scott Henderson, Mattias Ia Eklund, Marty Friedman and Kiko Loureiro. In 2009 he got the honor to duet with Steve Vai on stage during one of his clinics.
He is currently mainly performing with his own solo project and he keeps writing and recording dozens of songs which he also arranges, writing every instrumentals part.
In 2020 he was one of the winners of the "I Stay At Home GuitarJam" national contest, organized by Ciro Manna with the collaboration of MusicOff. In 2022 he was the opening act for the Guthrie Govan Band and during the summer of 2024 he performed before Andy Timmons during his clinic. In 2024 he was signed by the record label Progressiverse which published his 2 new singles available online and distributed by MusicOk Distributions.
His prominent presence on social media and his tapping technique led him to meet Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater's keyboardist) and to become his actual guitar instructor (tapping mainly). He often publishes YouTube videos where he reinterprets with his unique two hands tapping technique, famous covers of amazing musicians such the likes of Guthrie Govan, Steve Vai, Dream Theater, Chick Corea, Charlie Parker, Greg Howe, Jason Becker etc.
